Resident at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: September 2011–January 2012 Research topic at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften: »Spheres of (Social) Solidarity« Project outline: Der Begriff der Solidarität hat seit dem Fall der Mauer einen regelrechten Niedergang erfahren: Zentraler Bezugspunkt der Politik wie auch der normativen Politischen Theorie und Philosophie sind nunmehr andere normative Begriffe wie Gerechtigkeit und Freiheit. Vor dem Hintergrund einer Analyse von historischen Solidaritätsmodellen seit der Französischen Revolution und von normativen Theorien der Neueren Frankfurter Schule versucht mein Projekt, einen systematischen und aktuellen Begriff von Solidarität zu entwickeln. »Solidarität« wird dabei in Anlehnung an Michael Walzers »Sphären der Gerechtigkeit« mit verschiedenen sozialen Gütern, Sphären und Subjekten verknüpft, wodurch ihre konkreten Normen und Forderungen bestimmt werden. Drei Fallstudien über aktuelle gesellschaftliche Debatten diskutieren die Reichweite des differenzierten Begriffs von Solidarität: die Diskussion über den Niedergang der Innenstädte als soziale und politische Zentren einer Stadt, die Debatte über den Verlust an Lebensqualität infolge der globalen Umweltbedrohung und der Streit über die Lehrpläne in allgemeinbildenden Schulen angesichts des Bedeutungsverlustes des Nationalstaates.
