»A Study of Religion and Media – Muslim Adolescence in Post-Secular Germany«

Projektbeschreibung

This research project is designed to be an integral part of the largescale enterprise titles ›Religious Positionality/Positioning› (RelPos), by contributing to it with the inquiry of the modalities and constellations of religious positionality in Islam. The idea is to look into ways in which the divide between Islam and the West is maintained through divisive rhetoric and to ultimately find a method to overcome it. We want to analyze the discourse in different kinds of media, largely received and created by young adults, in order to find out how they perceive and perpetuate the allegedly insurmountable divide between secular and religious values.

Wissenschaftliches Profil

Rida Inam ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Professur für Islamische Theologie und ihre Didaktik der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. Dort wurde sie 2017 mit einer Arbeit »Narratives of Disparity – Islam and the West in Contemporary British Literature« promoviert.

Forschungskontext

Rida Inam folgt der Einladung von Harry Harun Behr (Professor für Pädagogik der Sekundarstufen mit dem Schwerpunkt Islam an der Goethe-Universität), Meltem Kulaçatan (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl von Professor Behr) und dem an der Universität angesiedelten LOEWE-Schwerpunkt: »Religiöse Positionierung. Modalitäten und Konstellationen in jüdischen, christlichen und islamischen Kontexten«.
