»Illuminating Identity Impresarioship: How Leaders Make Group Identity Tangible across Cultures«

Leaders do more than speak for a group: they make its identity visible and tangible, staging the events, symbols, and shared spaces in which members can recognize themselves as an »us«. Social identity leadership research calls this identity impresarioship. The current research project that I am leading addresses both gaps through a cross-cultural qualitative study in six countries – Lithuania, Germany, India, China, Australia, and Tanzania – with an international team of researchers. Using an emic, culturally grounded interview design, it asks how leaders in different settings create the occasions and artifacts through which a group comes to experience itself as »us«, and which of these practices travel across cultures and which are locally specific. Collaboration with the Goethe Leadership Center is devoted to cross-cultural leadership analysis and to theoretical work drawing on this perspective.
Wissenschaftliches Profil
Odeta Raudonė ist Doktorandin und Dozentin an der Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Betriebswirtschaftslehre der Universität Vilnius, wo sie Management, Führung, soziale Verantwortung von Organisationen und Wirtschaftsethik unterrichtet. An der Schnittstelle von Organisationspsychologie und Management forscht sie auf der Grundlage von Theorien der sozialen Identität über Führung. Sie untersucht, wie Führungskräfte ein gemeinsames Gruppenidentitätsgefühl prägen, verkörpern und greifbar machen – und wie diese Prozesse das Engagement, das Wohlbefinden und das kollegiale Engagement der Mitarbeiter:innen (organizational citizenship behavior) beeinflussen. Methodisch kombiniert sie strenge qualitative und quantitative Methoden. Sie hat sich mit der Entwicklung von Skalen in der Psychologie befasst und fühlt sich offenen und reproduzierbaren Forschungspraktiken verpflichtet.

Forschungskontext
Odeta Raudoné ist auf Einladung von Rolf van Dick, Professor für Sozialpsychologie an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, und Michael Kosfeld, Professor für Organisation und Management am Fachbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, als Early Career Fellow zu Gast am Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften. Ihr Aufenthalt wird gefördert vom Goethe Leadership Center der Goethe-Universität.
