»Die Gerechtigkeitstheorie von John Rawls«

Projektbeschreibung

John Rawls holds that the primary subject of social justice is the basic structure of society—its major political and social institutions. This »basic structure assumption« leads to two scope restrictions for distributive justice. First, principles of distributive justice apply only to social institutions rather than the daily economic choices of citizens. Second, distributive justice applies only to the social institutions of a state rather than globally. My project is to examine the cases for both scope restrictions. I plan to argue that a case for restricting distributive justice to social institutions provides a case against restricting distributive justice to the state.

Wissenschaftliches Profil

Während seines Fellowships am Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften arbeitet Andrew Greetis an seiner Promotion im Fach Philosophie an der University of Utah. Seine Dissertation trägt den Titel »Rawls’s Basic Structure Assumption and Global Distributive Justice«.
