Forschungsthema

Asymmetrically Bound: A Feminist Theory for a Cross-Experimental Hermeneutics

Projektbeschreibung

My research examines how feminist solidarity can emerge across differences in lived experience, privilege, and power. At the heart of Asymmetrically Bound is the principle of nonsubstitutability: no person’s experience can fully represent, replace, or be reduced to another’s. I argue that recognizing this mutual irreducibility can ground collective action across difference. Drawing on feminist political theory, phenomenology, hermeneutics, and critical theory, I develop a cross-experiential hermeneutics that politicizes not only lived experience, but also the relations between differently situated subjects. It explores how these relations can become sites of critical reflection and political transformation without erasing difference or reproducing exclusion.

Wissenschaftliches Profil

Julia Costet hat 2025 im Fach Philosophie an der London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) mit einer Arbeit über »Speaking Rape. Engaging Experience for a Feminist Pracitce of Rape Survivorship« promoviert.
